Philippine indigenous fabrics debut in Zurich
Celebrating the Philippine Independence Day, the Filipino-Swiss community in Zurich in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Berne and the Department of Tourism held a fashion event that promoted local haute couture.
The collection by Filipino designer Nono Palmos featured European-inspired designs using indigenous fabrics such as the patadyong, piña, gaddang and yakan. The dinner fashion event held at the Swissotel City Ballroom in Zurich welcomed more than 350 guests from the Swiss government, business, travel media, and tour stakeholders.

Filipino Fashion Show in Zurich
The show aimed to help Filipino ethnic weavers from several regions in the Philippines to continue creating their centuries old craft and sustain their livelihood. Photo shows a European version of the Filipiniana outfit, made out of piña fabric.
