Mayweather Versus Pacquiao?
Do you think there will be a Mayweather Versus Pacquiao Fight?
It’s a matter of world boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s decision on who to take on for his next fight and big, big purse. As of now, the eager contenders are Ricky Hatton of Great Britain and Floyd Mayweather of the United States who retired after drubbing the great Oscar de La Hoya earlier this year.
Hatton has been issuing challenges against Pacquiao and the Filipino champion has repeatedly said he would fight him anywhere, even in the former’s homeland. Meanwhile, as of Tuesday, Floyd Mayweather Sr. has confirmed that his son is ready to come out of retirement to trade mitts with the world’s best current pound-for-pound boxer.
In a radio interview with Filipino boxing analyst Dennis Principe, Mayweather Sr. confirmed that his son opened up to one of his cousins, Bernice, saying that should the match between him and Pacquiao be finally inked, he would like his father to be at his side as confidante and trainer.
Mayweather Sr. said while the prospect is good, it will still depend on Pacman on who to choose as his worthy opponent in the 2009 season.
“It’s all up to Manny. He can have Ricky or Floyd but I think he will think of someone who will make more money for him. And whoever is the lucky choice, he better prepare himself for a great, exciting match,” the elder Mayweather said.
