Manny Pacquiao to be named “Ambassador of Peace”
On Wednesday, President Arroyo will give Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao the new title “ambassador of peace” after defeating Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya last Sunday. The President will welcome the Peoples Champ in Malacañang after the boxing idol’s arrival. Environment Secretary Lito Atienza announced that Pacquiao’s flight back to Manila will arrive around 5 a.m. The boxing idol will go straight to a hotel to rest.
After a brief rest, Pacquiao will go to Quiapo church for a Thanksgiving Mass and then to Malacañang to meet Mrs. Arroyo. Atienza also announced that Pacquiao will go around Metro Manila on Thursday. He said the motorcade will go around Manila, Pasay City, Makati City and will end at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City. Pacquiao dominated de la Hoya throughout the fight, which forced the Golden Boy to throw the white towel before the start of the ninth round.
