Pinoy Teen won the English Speaking Union’s International Public Speaking Competition
Gian Dapul, A 16-year old senior student of the Philippine Science High School made Filipinos proud when he won the English Speaking Union’s International Public Speaking Competition held in London last May 9.
Gian Dapul arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport accompanied by his proud father Satin last May 16,2008. Gian outclassed some 57 contestants from 35 countries when he delivered his five minute speech on the theme “New Frontiers.”
In his speech titled “Fish Mucus and Foot Fungus,” Gian cited recent scientific finds and expressed his desire to help his country by joining researchers discovering new ways to enhance health and extend life spans.
Gian’s trip to London was sponsored by Pilipinas Shell. He was named one of the 12 finalists after the preliminary heats held at Dartmouth House, ESU International’s headquarters.
Gian said he impressed the judges with his relaxed and humorous delivery of a substantive speech with a clear message.
